Week 14: Mastering Headlocks, Throws, and Side Mount, and Embracing Humility

Welcome back to another exciting week of Jiu-Jitsu at Gracie Barra Lake Orion! In Week 14, we’re diving deep into the intricacies of headlocks, hip and hand throws, and side mount positions. These techniques are fundamental to Jiu-Jitsu and will further enhance your skills on the mats.

Headlocks: Mastering Defense and Escapes

Defending and escaping headlocks is a crucial aspect of Jiu-Jitsu. We’ll be focusing on effective techniques to counter headlocks and regain control in various situations.

Hip and Hand Throws: Powerful Takedowns

Hip and hand throws are powerful techniques that can be used to take down opponents and gain dominant positions. We’ll be refining our execution of these throws and learning how to apply them in different scenarios.

Side Mount: Versatility and Attacks

The side mount position is a versatile position that offers numerous attacking options. We’ll be exploring various attacks from this position, as well as effective escapes for when we find ourselves on the receiving end.

Word of the Week: Humility

As we continue to refine our techniques and improve our skills, it’s important to approach our training with humility. Humility allows us to be open to learning, to acknowledge our strengths and weaknesses, and to treat our training partners with respect.
